I haven’t done a very good job of updating the blog the past … er … four months? I’m afraid that’s partly because I started watching TV series at night instead of blogging
while Joel has been toiling away in the mines. One of those series, though, is at least somewhat interesting from a data-geek perspective. The series is called Rubicon, and it’s about a bunch of cerebral, overeducated and disgruntled data analysts working for API, which is a kind of meta intelligence unit which tries to crunch data provided by the CIA, FBI, foreign US embassies etc. and connect the dots, spot the patterns … you get the idea. There were even some lines of dialogue that would be quotable in “big data” conversations, but unfortunately I’ve forgotten exactly how they went. Anyone have a transcript? Unfortunately, the show was canceled after one season.
